A recent even that had a major impact on my photography habits is the arrival of "Mr. Nikon D-40", the new DSLR camera which I bought. It is not amongst the very expensive ones. However, I got this one as a result of a lot of good reviews on 'flickr' and a nice offer by Ritzcamera.
This, in a way diverted me from my old dear friend Cannon A530 digital camera who worked for me day and night. It served me as a great adaptable machine that sustained the Chicago winter as well as the Arizona heat. :)
Mastering your DSLR needs a lot of learning, knowledge gathering, experimentation and self motivation too. Using an SLR/DSLR in auto mode is not what one ideally should look for. Buying an SLR/DSLR suddenly adds few new words and terms to the camera owner's vocabulary. These are 'Aperture', 'Shutter Speed', 'Lens', 'Lens cleaner' etc. Depending on the interest the vocabulary will soon be extended to include even 'Depth of field', 'Panning' .... hahah and most importantly 'a tripod'.
The long and exciting journey to Master the DSLR begins here for me.
